This is what a few of our guests say in reviews submitted online:
This was our second stay with A Yellow Rose B&B. We were as delighted with our accommodations the second time as we were with the first stay. The price cannot be beat! When is the last time you got cookies in your room at the Marriott??? This location allows for walking to the River walk, The Alamo and great food!
A Yellow Rose provided me with the perfect, and much needed, break. Wonderful hosts, beautiful room and relaxing porch complete with Mona the lap cat. I parked my car on arrival and ignored it for three days, as everything you need and want is within walking distance. Art galleries, favorite bistros and coffee houses all a short, shady stroll. River and downtown are a quick shuttle or about 15 minute easy walk (rental bike kiosk is in the immediate neighborhood, too!). Glad to find such a gem-I'll be back.
My husband and I stayed at the Yellow Rose Bed and Breakfast over Labor Day weekend and we had a perfectly lovely time! The Magnolia room was beautifully appointed, the bed was super comfortable, and we just really loved the charm of the building and our room. When we arrived there was a letter for us with clear instructions and a warm welcome. We were able to see the owners a few times while we were coming and going and they were always really nice and had great ideas when we had a question about where to eat or how to get somewhere. We had breakfast on our last morning and the food was AMAZING! It was right up there with all of the really expensive food we had eaten all weekend and we really wish we had had breakfast there every morning we were there. It turns out that the couple who own this place are from New Mexico, at least he is and they lived in Albuquerque for years. This happens to be a great thing for my taste buds as she used Hatch green chilies on the chicken enchiladas and they tasted great! We had a lovely vacation with just the two of us. We would definitely stay here again on a return trip. Thank you for making it so great, we really love the place and your hospitality! -Amanda and Robert-

My husband & I had a wonderful weekend at your B & B.
Our charming spacious room decorated in antiques was very inviting and relaxing. In it you had provided every amenity we could wish for. Your location in the heart of the historic King William area encouraged us to walk to dinner and to shops and, the next morning, to breakfast, and to continue on with a walking tour of restored historic homes dating back to the 1850's. Our second night after enjoying the art under the bridges on the River Walk and dinner at Il Sogno in the Pearl, we returned to our room to enjoy your complimentary anniversary champagne and home made chocolate chip cookies as we listened to the Cleveland Symphony. What an evening! Our last morning was spent at the Gunther House museum and restaurant where we had their famous Sunday Brunch and shopped for gifts to take to Indiana on our vacation there later this summer.
Thank you for the most fun weekend we have ever had in our own home town, San Antonio. This weekend with you was a 30th anniversary present from our son. It was the nicest gift we have ever received. Thanks so much for all you have done to make that a reality.

It was so quiet and relaxing. My husband is very particular, but he was so impressed that he is planning on taking his entire staff to stay there during the TDA convention next May. The best part of the stay was the breakfast delivered to us in the room. The presentation was beautiful and the food was probably the best breakfast I ever had. I would recommend this B&B to anyone.
Our room was prettier in person than on the website, and the bed was oh so comfy. But my favorite was the elegant bathtub. It has classic good looks and plenty of leg room for a tall (5'10") gal. We loved the King William neighborhood.
The Bordeaux room where I stayed was gorgeous. Big four poster bed, beautiful throws and pillows, two lovely loungers and chairs, en-suite bathroom with tub and separate standing shower, vanity area and sink and extra wash sink complete with outlets, plenty of towels and two heavy cotton robes. In the main room there was also a breakfast corner with cloth napkins, real silverware, and cups and glasses. I had a little refrigerator with milk, juice, soda and coffee grinds to make my French press coffee.
Outside I had a little balcony on which I enjoyed an evening with a bottle of wine. I could go on about the area as I loved every minute but this is about A Yellow Rose, it really was one of the most lovely, relaxing, beautiful, welcoming, comfortable places that I have stayed. As a female traveling alone I felt particularly safe and truly at ease and catered to. Just go I can’t say anymore.
The room and bathroom were spacious, with plenty of room for us to relax and for both of us to get ready in the morning. The place was very clean, and we had everything we needed. Deb and Kit were so hospitable, and the cat, who greeted us outside each day, was friendly as well. We took advantage of a few of the wonderful restaurants just a block or two away too. Our stay in "A Yellow Rose" was a welcome change to the hustle and bustle of the convention area. It is located close enough for easy access to the convention area and river walk, but it served as a retreat in a beautifully landscaped, quieter neighborhood.
Each room has its own entrance, and we never saw any of the other guests. The hosts were never intrusive, but they were helpful and available ... one morning it rained, and they knocked on our door to let us know we could borrow umbrellas if we wished. The decor was very tasteful, the bed was super-comfortable and both the room and the bathroom were huge, with 2 sinks, a soaker tub and separate shower. The wireless was free, and there was a selection of books and magazines in the room, too.
Thank you for our excellent experience at A Yellow Rose. We
loved our beautiful rooms and the lovely neighborhood! The
tub was wonderful. Your attention to detail is much
appreciated!
We stumbled upon Dolores Del Rio going "the back way" to the
River Walk, and since you had recommended it, decided to
have dinner there! WHAT A TREAT! The meal, ambiance, and
service were fantastic. Little did we out-of-towners know
that massive, noisy crowds were just around the
corner!
Again, thanks so much!

Deb,
Thank you very much for making my recent visit to San
Antonio so special. The room was exquisitely designed and
efficiently arranged. I particularly appreciated having the
WI-FI access to research places I wanted to go or had just
been for a more complete look. Your information packet was
very thorough; good job on that!
I wanted to let you know that I got quite a bit of Christmas
shopping done in San Antonio, both downtown and in that
wonderful shopping plaza you told me about, Alamo Quarry.
Future guests who want to shop should definitely check that
place out. Great shops and a movie!
It was lovely, thanks again.

?Although called a "B&B," "A Yellow Rose" has exterior
entrances and plays out more like a private retreat for each
guest. The room was large and beautifully furnished. Parking
is provided. As well, the King William District is, I think,
the best of San Antonio: close to downtown but also its own
world. In all, "A Yellow Rose" is a much better option than,
say, staying at one of the downtown hotels.?

We had the opportunity to stay at a Yellow Rose B&B twice
for business travel to San Antonio. The neighborhood is
lovely and quiet (much quieter than the Riverwalk hotels),
but very close to the heart of the downtown area. Great
neighborhood restaurants and the B&B itself is wonderful.
We've seen 4 of the rooms connected to the main house and
all are comfortable with their own particular charm. I would
recommend this B&B to all travelers...business and leisure
alike. April 2006
We stayed here for a quick getaway to celebrate our two year
anniversary. Our room was larger than expected, with a
spacious separate bathroom. The location couldn't be beat --
A Yellow Rose is surrounded by beautiful historic homes and
is within walking distance to the Riverwalk. We chose the
full breakfast option and were delighted -- there was more
than enough to satisfy both of us. I have stayed at a number
of bed and breakfasts and this one is my favorite.

Thanks so much; we had a fantastic time, and really enjoyed your b&b! Everything was great, and I can't think of one recommendation that I would make! Thanks again, and we hope to be back again!

Deb and Kit,
I wanted to send you a note of thanks for the wonderful
weekend that Kathy and I had at your B&B. We really love the
B&B experience, and y'all helped keep that spirit alive. The
food was fantastic, service was very friendly, and the
recommendations for local flare were right on the money. The
overall package that we had was great for our anniversary
and Kathy really appreciated it. The location is excellent
with just the right amount of walk time along the river for
a great experience walking into downtown. I think that we
will be seeing more of you in the future!! Take care!

"Where do you stay when you have four
couples and a family of four traveling together in San
Antonio? A YELLOW ROSE B&B!
Thank you so much for such a wonderful stay. Our family
visited San Antonio for my Mom's 80th birthday. I was lucky
to find such a friendly, cozy place that could accommodate
all of us, especially the kids, with all the comforts of
home. Each room was unique and very comfortable. Everything
was just perfect, and the special touches (refrigerator,
goodies, coffee pot, coffees/teas, juices, soda, area info
booklets, maps, beautiful furnishings, separate porches) -
you can't get that kind of comfort at a hotel. It was great!
We'll definitely be back again. It exceeded my family's
expectations and everyone had such a great time.

Hello Yellow Rose!
Thank you so much for the delightful stay in your warm, cozy
home! It was much needed. And I am so thrilled to connect
with another "savvy traveler".
Again, great food, soft sleep, and such kind people--you
made my weekend wonderful--thanks!

Dear Deb,
I've been meaning to write since we got back to thank you
again for making our stay in San Antonio so wonderful. We
were there Nov. 10 to 13 at "Bordeaux". I seem to have been
congratulating myself for finding the perfect B&B and
neglected to let you know how we felt. Indeed, we couldn't
have asked for more. It was a wonderful room, so much so
that we wanted to spend more time there than sightseeing. So
comfortable, so attractive and so homey. You anticipated our
every need/question. Many thanks again.

What a wonderful, relaxing
experience...we felt so at home and so very comfortable - it
is obvious that you and your husband have taken a great deal
of extra care to have your guests feel so "special" - so
many of your extras were so appreciated and not found in
many nice B&Bs or inns that we have been to: the feather
topper, refrigerator and goodies, coffee
pot/coffees/teas/juices/yogurts, the numerous booklets
[loved the walking tour of King William area], maps,
beautiful furnishings, separate porches and oh-the
bathrobes! All such a nice touch.
Your restaurant recommendations were right on - also, you
certainly excelled in the breakfasts - what a wonderful
treat...We are planning our return already!

Dear Deb and Kit,
We just wanted to thank you so much for such a wonderful
stay. It exceeded what we expected and was so much like
being at home. We were visiting San Antonio for our first
anniversary along with another couple celebrating theirs.
They stayed at a hotel and each night I felt so lucky to be
going back to such a cozy and comfortable room with all the
touches of staying with a friend. Although I've never stayed
anywhere that left us fresh baked blueberry bread after a
long day of sightseeing. It was great! Everything was just
perfect... We'll definitely be back again.
P.S. It was so quiet and private that we actually never saw
anyone...Another nice thing [privacy] that you'll never see
in a crowded busy hotel.
Thanks again so much.

"My husband and I just wanted to
thank you for the wonderful night we had at the Yellow Rose.
It was our first anniversary and the stay was blissful. We
hope to return every anniversary as a tradition since we had
such a wonderful time on our first. The yellow Rose was so
Romantic and beautiful.
I also have to comment on the wonderful most delicious
breakfast you made for us it just added to the beauty and
perfection of the night I will remember forever."
Thank You,
Brian & Lori Rushing
"We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at
the Yellow Rose. We're still dreaming of the wonderful
breakfasts being served to our room. What a wonderful treat
not to have to get dressed and be presentable before
breakfast. We had all the amenities of staying in one's home
[actually better; I've never stayed anywhere where the host
brings breakfast to my room] with none of the responsibility
of spending time with the hosts. Our time was our own and it
was wonderful. We hated to leave. Thank you so much for a
wonderful time."
Sincerely,
Jon and Pat Sjoberg
